Programme Synopsis

DIGITAL FORMAT AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS This programme is now adapted to: Allow students to view the selected programme synchronously through an online link, together with pre-recorded videos, to watch in the classrooms/during homebased learning. Note: Guitars (if required) will be delivered to schools and further Music / score video guides will be provided for teachers. An Education in Listening, Creating and Performing Guitarhympia Music presents its flagship strum-n-sing program for students of all ages. The guitar is the most flexible and versatile instrument in the genre of Contemporary Popular Music. Youth all over the globe can quickly and effectively learn chords to their favourite songs if they are given appropriate pedagogically-proven tools in the early part of their study. Our group playing during class is always assisted by the drum-machine of an electronic keyboard and with backing tracks created especially for the students learning in mind. This immediately focuses the student on the need to keep good time when performing in a group / ensemble. The repertoire will consists of local and contemporary pop songs that students like to listen and sing to. The programme will consist of: • Learning The Guitar’s Anatomy • Learning good posture on the classical guitar - Left and Right hand technique • Learning ‘GUITAR DANCE’, an instrumental especially designed for beginner chord students. Students will play the chord progression G Em C D7 and jam to a minus-one track • Learning the 4 rhythmic patterns in ‘GUITAR DANCE’ - universal strumming patterns that can be used in most pop songs • Learning to sing and play several pop songs which are popular among students. New chords will be introduced along the way • Learning to read guitar tablatures - most students are exposed to this method of learning online and need some tutelage in this matter • Reading and playing a C major scale - Learning to read basic music notation for the classical guitar • Assessment in groups while singing and playing 1 song
