Programme Synopsis

NEW! DIGITAL FORMAT AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS This programme is now adapted to: 1. Allow students to view the selected programme through Zoom or google both synchronously and asynchronously. 2. Allow students to view recorded videos and live demonstrations. A cappella 101 About A cappella 101 Showcasing some of the top vocal artistes in the region and introducing students to the art of contemporary unaccompanied singing, A cappella 101 is an entertaining and educational workshop suitable for all ages. Using the exciting genre of contemporary a cappella, 3-5 vocalists will perform material that is current and familiar to the students. Repertoire includes custom vocal arrangements of iconic Singaporean songs. Students will experience performers using the voice to emulate other musical instruments including drums, bass and trumpet. They will discover how an ensemble singer performs as part of the harmonic structure of a piece of music. Select students will be given the opportunity to perform with the ensemble at the finale of the workshop. They will be given the chance to win prizes for their participation. We trust that students will be inspired by A cappella 101. We hope to provide them with a new found appreciation for the voice as a musical instrument and the wonderful art of contemporary vocal ensemble music. The programme may be adjusted to suit the requirements of the school. The school may choose suitable music repertoire from TotalVocal’s ever expanding list of vocal arrangements.
