Programme Synopsis Story Stream is a storytelling programme delivered digitally via short (7 - 15 minutes) pre-recorded videos. Each story is categorised as appropriate in one or more age-groups: pre-school, lower primary, upper primary and secondary. Story Stream features mostly traditional Asian value stories told by seven of Singapore’s most experienced storytellers: Jumaini Ariff, Roger Jenkins, Rani Kanna, Karen Lee, Kalah Rajesh, Sheila Wee and Wong Swee Yean. This is a unique artistic collaboration which enables you to draw on the expertise of a diverse team of talented tellers, exposing your students to the rich variety of ways in which a story can be told - sometimes with puppets, props, pictures, music, songs, gestures and mime - and sometimes by simply compelling telling direct to camera While on site performance offers exceptional interactive opportunities, the Story Stream offers a highly customisable, convenient and cost-effective alternative. Teachers can schedule a story session to suit their own class schedules, while addressing specific values, themes or curriculum connections that are relevant to their students development. The power of the close-up can make for a more engaging experience than being sat at the back of the Hall with 500 other students with facial expressions clearly visible etc- and in the relative intimacy of the classroom there is room for follow-up discussion and activity. All the Story Stream videos come with a downloadable Teacher's resource pdf with suggestions for trigger questions and activities. The Story Stream has a large and growing catalogue of content. As of May 2022, Story Stream has 43 stories suited for pre-school; 79 (lower primary) 73 (upper primary) and 44 (secondary) Every story has a free 60-second trailer and the Search panel offers over 70 different tags (from Art, Bullying, Co-operation to Tolerance, Unity, Young Hero) to help you find a relevant story theme. Visit www.storystream.com.sg to browse the catalogue. Pricing: Given the digital nature of this service, pricing is $10 per class view. If 10 classes watch - either at the same time or individually at their own convenience - the fee is 10 x $10. For teachers who wish to use stories told in Mother Tongue classes - and we have stories told in Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, the fee is $30 per class per video, but this package provides 4 views of the same story to enable students to listen to and practice the language. Note there also stories told bilingually (English plus a Mother Tongue) as well as some stories incorporating sign language that feature Gophi Nathan, a hearing-impaired actor/storyteller (who is also voiced by Roger Jenkins in these stories)
