Programme Synopsis Students will be given an in-depth look at what is ‘S Pop’, and explore the beginnings of this cultural phenomenon from the days of Xinyao music, to the current local singers and S Pop artistes and songwriters. This presentation will revolve around presentations and performances by local quirky performing trio ‘LimTayPeng’, comprising of Aaron Matthew LIM, TAY Sia Yeun and PENG Chi Sheng, as well as local renowned songwriter Derrick Tham. About Songwriter Derrick Tham: A music lover since childhood, music composition came as a natural step for Derrick to express his creativity & Stories. Derrick began composing in 1999 & was later signed as a songwriter with a Renowned music publishing house in Singapore. Derrick had his first song published in 2002, entitled 《我不能飛》, and that marked the start of more than 15 years of songwriting and publishing songs with local as well as regional artistes. Today, Derrick is best known for his collaboration with singer李聖傑 Sam Lee, having written numerous songs for him. About Trio ‘LimTayPeng’: ‘LimTayPeng’ (LTP) is a Singaporean trio that performs songs with a local twist! The members include singers Aaron Matthew LIM, TAY Sia Yeun and composer and pianist PENG Chi Sheng (hence the name ‘LimTayPeng) from their surnames. From their 1st single, 《捞鱼生》 (The Lo Hei Song), which was an original Chinese New Year (CNY) song commissioned by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), LTP has continuously released original and quirky song content that highlights various aspects of Singaporean culture.
