Programme Synopsis International storyteller and Singapore storytelling pioneer Sheila Wee and her team of experienced professional storytellers, are proud to present a high-quality storytelling programme that can be adapted to suit your centre’s needs. Storywise is run by Sheila Wee, a Singaporean storyteller who has been a professional storyteller since 1999. Because of her work to pioneer the revival of storytelling in Singapore, she has become known as Singapore’s Godmother of Storytelling. Sheila started her career an early childhood educator, and then specialised in speech & drama for preschoolers, before becoming a professional storyteller. Since 2015 she has been conducting storytelling courses for preschool teachers under ECDA. These are now part of ECDA’s core CPD programme. Adventures in Story is a 60-minute programme for one class of N2, K1 or K2 children. The endorsed artists are all experienced professional storytellers, each with a unique repertoire of stories. The stories are mainly folktales which have been crafted to engage preschool audiences, through participatory techniques and/or props. As well as the stories the children will experience interactive pre or post story activities linked to the stories and/or story making activities. The pre and post activities will extend and deepen the children’s positive experience with the story and with storytelling. The activities will also give ideas to teachers for activities to extend the children's learning after reading book or telling a story The programme will be developed in collaboration with the centre so that both the stories and the activities can be tailored to the children’s and the centre’s needs. This programme: • can only be carried out face to face in the centre • will be tailored to be developmentally appropriate OPTIONAL TEACHER WORKSHOPS THAT CAN BE PURCHASED WITH THIS PROGRAMME 1) PLAYING WITH STORIES: CREATING COLLABORATIVE IMPROVISED STORIES WITH CHILDREN This workshop focuses on incorporating play into storytelling; creating a collaborative and engaging experience for both children and teachers.
