Programme Synopsis This socially engaged art workshop series aims to promote inclusion and diversity through art-making. Co:created with ceramic artist Chloe Tan and her young artist mentee Ang Shuhao, students will be guided through the fun steps from pinching a clay vessel to painting their own designs using a selection of underglaze colours. Try a hand at creating both simple and intricate designs to form a unique vessel. Singapore-based ceramicist Chloe Tan has been working with clay for close to a decade. Operating under the moniker Usually Usual, her works seek to connect customers with their daily routines through thoughtfully crafted ceramics. Chloe was one of the five artists to collaborate with Superhero Me at their ‘Is anyone home’ exhibition. She was also commisioned to produce over 100 porcelain vessels made from local clay for Singapore’s Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. Ang Shuhao, is a graduate from Rainbow Centre, which runs special education schools. Diagnosed with autism, Shuhao is independent, wildly creative and an active doodler. Plasticine is his medium of comfort. He is constantly moulding a ball of plasticine to self-regulate and can make all kinds of crazily detailed and imaginative figurines. This project promotes collaboration between Singapore artists with community partners.This project platforms our local artists as agents for social change as the artist reimagines time as a conduit for sharing their creative energies, and through their hands, stewards us to make meaning and connect with ourselves.

The Tote Board Arts Grant was introduced in 1995 to encourage the development of a vibrant arts culture in schools, and to promote arts appreciation amongst students.

Each year, all MOE schools and ITE Colleges may opt-in to receive the Arts Grant. Schools may use the grant to subsidise the purchase of programmes under the NAC-AEP and for the Artist-in-School Scheme (AISS).

All approved programmes are listed on the NAC-AEP Directory and come with a valid Letter of Eligibility.

Payment should be made directly to the programme provider. Claims for the Arts Grant should be made via IFAAS and in accordance to Grant Guidelines.

Programme providers are permitted to make changes to the following aspects of an NAC-AEP, according to the school’s needs:

Cost of programme
Class size

Under the above conditions, schools can make claims based on revised programme costs using the same Programme ID listed on the Letter of Eligibility (LOE).
