Programme Synopsis Can music change a life? AMPLIFY – Building New Lives Through Music is a special 45-minute live performance that shows how music can help people heal, grow, and start over. This unique programme features songs and stories by a group of ex-offenders and music lovers—people who once made mistakes but have found a new direction in life through music. These performers were once part of the Performing Arts Centre in Changi Prison, where they discovered the power of music and how it could help them express their feelings, find hope, and rebuild their lives. Now, they are part of AMPLIFY, a group that supports ex-offenders who want to keep making music and sharing it with others. In this programme, students will hear original songs written and performed by the AMPLIFY members themselves. The songs carry positive messages about never giving up, believing in yourself, and how music can help you heal and grow. There will be live singing, keyboard playing, and real-life stories about how each performer found a new path through music. This is more than a presentation or performance—it’s a meaningful learning experience that shows how music can connect people from all walks of life, build understanding across different cultures, and help us become a more caring and united community. Through AMPLIFY, students will discover how the arts can bring hope, inspire change, and remind us that everyone deserves a second chance. *Important: It is highly recommended that schools ensure that there is a counsellor available during this programme. This is in consideration of student well being, and also ensures that appropriate support is available if needed.
