Programme Synopsis re:ACT is inwardBOUND's dynamic Annual Forum Theatre Festival, bringing together schools dedicated to addressing societal issues. re:ACT embodies community bridging, empowering youths to champion causes dear to them. inwardBOUND collaborates annually with diverse beneficiaries to highlight their concerns on the re:ACT stage. At the core of re:ACT lies the transformative power of Forum Theatre and the Arts, fostering connection and change. In Forum Theatre, actors depict an undesirable situation, and the student audience, as spectator-actors, actively intervenes by raising their hands, shouting "stop," and contributing ideas for better outcomes. This immersive experience encourages critical and creative thinking, inviting participants to share perspectives and solutions. Beyond enhancing theatrical and improvisational skills, re:ACT nurtures empathy and solidarity among student participants, forging deep connections with the causes they advocate for. At re:ACT, students embark on a multi-faceted journey: 1. Watch the Presentation of Anti-Models: Students have the opportunity to watch performances that shine a light on specific issues. 2. Participate as Spect-Actors: They step into the roles of spect-actors, engaging actively in problem-solving and improvisation. 3. Attend Talks and Workshops: Facilitated by the chosen beneficiaries of the year, granting students insights into the intricacies of the issues at hand. 4. Engage in Post-Excursion Programmes: Leveraging on technology, students are encouraged to participate in meaningful differentiated programmes after the performances, fostering a deeper understanding of challenges and potential solutions. 5. Acquire Knowledge for Future Arts in the Community Projects: Perhaps most importantly, attendees leave re:ACT with a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration, poised to transform these experiences into tangible arts initiatives to serve the community. Outcomes: Using the performing arts to 1. Develop empathy and compassion. 2. Solve problems and enrich lives. 3. Fortify community bonds and promote cohesion. 4. Leveraging the arts for growth, encompassing 21st Century Competencies and Social-Emotional Learning. Programme for Secondary School students Leveraging on technology through an online micro-learning platform, post excursion programmes will equip students with the tools to use arts in creating impactful campaigns within their schools. They learn to harness immersive theatre techniques to breathe life into their arts for the school campaigns, e.g. school-based projects aimed at fostering improved family relationships. Programme for Junior College students Post excursion programmes pivot towards grassroots initiatives and community-driven change. JC students gain the know-how to affect change for the larger communities, learning how to use multi-disciplinary arts as catalysts for meaningful initiatives, e.g. using Performing Arts to serve the Elderly at Active Ageing Centres.
