Programme Synopsis EV School Out! A dance excursion for students to experience how local dance professional training ground is like. Within this 180 minute session, students will be brought into the world of Street Dance through a time of party! The session will take place in the setting of a professional dance studio, where professional dancers and certified coaches will share the fundamentals of hip hop dancing and building the connection in the KPOP evolution through hip hop elements with performances and fun-filled dance activities. From the session, students will be exposed to the history and origin of the hip hop culture and art movement which originated in the predominantly African American community in the late 1970s, developing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art form. Through fun dance-related activities, students will get to learn about the different street dance styles in hip hop, which in turn will develop rhythm, groove, strength, body and spatial awareness. Students will also get to experience performing in front of a crowd, which will assist in developing 21st century competencies to navigate the world as a confident person. The outcome of the programme will be letting students acquire the knowledge of Hip Hop techniques with the influence of KPOP music in a fun and safe learning environment. It also engages them hands on with group work and creative exploration. They will also apply the choreography techniques they have learnt to conceptualise and create a movement combination, using imagination and creativity to reference daily objects and events. Through the showcases performed to their peers, students will practise performance etiquette and build up their confidence and showmanship. All this culminates into teachable moments where students get a chance to relate performing arts to life lesson and values, motivating them to become continuous learners. Students should finish this programme as confident individuals who have had a positive group work experience, with a curious and appreciative attitude towards the arts.
