Programme Synopsis Breaking Down The Loops features live looping singer-guitarist and host, John Lye who will perform only using his guitar to emulate the sound of a full band via the art of live looping. Using the guitar to perform drum beats, bass, rhythm and lead guitar, John will also take the students through a multi-genre vocal performance - all by himself. By using different parts of the guitar to replicate different instruments of the band, he creates fascinating musical compositions with only one instrument. This informative and educational performance aims to introduce technology into music through live looping. John’s performance will be interactive and entertaining by using contemporary music in various genres of pop, rock, R&B and many more to engage the students. This blended programme has customisable themes available to incorporate National Day Celebrations, Mother-Tongue week, Art & Music Week, Children’s Day and more into both LIVE and DIGITAL Versions. Short interactive segments will be made throughout the performance to encourage audience participation and engagement. For DIGITAL versions, students will experience the performance through platforms (such as YouTube / Vimeo / Zoom) to watch in the classrooms/during home-based learning. The DIGITAL version is a synchronous LIVE performance broadcasted from a studio, and the performances, interactions and Q&A are conducted in real-time. Asynchronous modes can be arranged and interaction segment can be done live via Zoom. Sample performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KTcYk4G27U
