Programme Synopsis This socially engaged art workshop series aims to promote inclusion and diversity through art-making. Co:Created by visual artist Mary Bernadette and her young artist mentee Tamimi Pohan, students will be introduced to how to make a linocut stamp, and print their designs on bags with a brayer. Mary Bernadette Lee is an artist, educator, illustrator, co-creator. Her works manifest in paintings, illustrations, linocut prints, monoprint prints, woodcut prints, clay sculptures, textile installation, and publication. Tamimi Syawalludin Pohan loves to express himself through art. He was diagnosed with a genetic disorder of the bones from birth (Osterogenesus Imperfecta). His routine consists of school and home, alongside mobile games and manga. To fight off boredom, he spends time sketching his imaginary blue-haired friend Chip and detailing how they go on wild and wacky adventures. This 14 year old is on his way to an artistic freedom that his mentor Mary is helping to hone. Read their full story on: Co:Creation | Project – Time On Our Hands – Mary-X-Tamimi (cocreation.sg) This workshop has been developed as part of the project, “Time on Our Hands” supported by NAC’s Digital Presentation Grant. This project promotes collaboration between Singapore artists with community partners. This project platforms our local artists as agents for social change as the artist reimagines time as a conduit for sharing their creative energies, and through their hands, stewards us to make meaning and connect with ourselves.
