Programme Synopsis ComixGuru’s art program leverages the inquiry-based and adaptive learning strategies with differentiated instruction to facilitate critical and inventive thinking and achieve intentional, focused outcomes in each lesson. ComixGuru’s core philosophy is based on these 3 pillars: Go-easy, Go-engage and Go-experience. 1. Go-easy: Keep it fun and super simple to understand 2. Go-engage: Make learning relatable and exciting 3. Go-experience: Explore, discover and create with an outcome in mind We use learning management systems(LMS) to engage students in self-paced learning where possible and empower them with learning resources (eGuides) so that they can take charge of their learning progress to complement the limits of classroom teaching. Students are encouraged to ask questions and embrace the beginner’s mind when executing a technique and be open-minded when solving problems. In the age of the super internet and generative AI, more students have gained immediate access to knowledge and information at a blazing speed. Because the answer from the internet comes by quick, easy and free, they have developed a belief that even skill building should be instant, fast and pain-free. This mindset has created the landscape that is built upon dependence rather than self-reliance; acceptance of a standard answer instead of questioning the source and seeking perfectionism but avoid risk altogether, is now our new normal. I believe that art can become the bridge between one’s potential and the technology that is woven into our lives. Through awareness and acceptance of the gifts (talent) we have inherited, we can then express ourselves to the fullest and be kinder to others and the environment. Rediscover Observational Portrait Art, encourage learners to look beyond the face and question, “who is myself” and “Whose face am I seeing”. This is a course designed for self-introspection with the goal of drawing the self-portrait as the end result. Who is this for: The 5 hour-long course is suitable for learners who is a beginner in portrait drawing; has enjoyed drawing from observation/imagination and loved pencil shading or colouring. This course shall also benefit learners who are trained in still life drawing whether self-taught or learned elsewhere. The course duration can be customised and adjusted based on the needs of the school. Rediscover Observational Portrait Art is not just another programme that is taken off the shelf, but carefully built with the intention to infuse self-awareness and drawing skills to express one’s true potential.
