Programme Synopsis International storyteller and Singapore storytelling pioneer Sheila Wee and her team of gifted and experienced professional storytellers are proud to present a high quality storytelling programme that can be adapted to suit your schools needs. Twice Upon a Time is a 30-minute storytelling performance programme that can be used for one class of students or a whole assembly hall of students. The endorsed artists are highly experienced professional storytellers, each with their unique repertoire of stories. The stories are mainly stories from the oral tradition and have been crafted to engage modern audiences. The storytellers choose and craft stories that are appropriate for each age group, from lower primary to college level. This programme can either be carried out face to face in the school or via Zoom. The programme will be developed in collaboration with the school, so that the stories can be tailored to the students' and school's needs. Story programmes can be planned to cater to specific events, such as Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day, as well as all the cultural festivals celebrated in Singapore. We have storytellers who can tell in Mandarin, Malay and Tamil as well as in English. HIGHLIGHTS STORYTELLING ENGAGES - We often hear these words from the teachers. “I have never seen them so attentive before!’ STORIES STICK - We have come across many instances in which students can remember and even retell stories that they have heard in a programme months, or even years earlier. STORYTELLING MOVES MINDS AND HEARTS - Stories told orally bypass analytical thinking and leap straight into the imagination. This makes them a very effective way of transmitting values. STORYTELLING DEVELOPS MENTAL IMAGERY ABILITIES Storytelling can be thought of as basic training for the imagination. The fact that stories are told without visuals helps students to develop mental imagery abilities; which are closely linked to creativity.
