Programme Synopsis Everyone loves comics—look at how many of them become movies, TV series, games and toys!—and you can create your own too! You don’t even need to know how to draw well! This interactive 1-hour assembly show is a collaboration between The Learning Grid and Yumcha Studios—the creators of the award-winning Dim Sum Warriors comics published by Scholastic and co-founded by New York Times international bestseller cartoonist Colin Goh. With the participation of student volunteers, we will take students through the building blocks of comics such as heroes, villains, expressions and basic storytelling principles, as well as essential elements such as word balloons and sound effects. The aim is to inspire students to explore this exciting mode of storytelling either individually or as a team. We can work with the school to run a comic creation challenge where students can create their comics based on a theme selected with the school. Comics creation is suitable for all ages. The programme flow and examples used will be adjusted based on profile of students.
