Programme Synopsis “AIM – Teens’ Urban Dance” is a programme specially customized to meet the needs of teens. Converge adopts specific teaching techniques catered to engaging today’s teens to help them build interest in Urban Dance and Dance in general, all while picking up important skills and values associated with the 21st Century Competencies. The Converge AIM series strives to develop Appreciation, Impart values and skills, and Motivate teens. APPRECIATION – To develop passion for the genre and dance in general, we believe that it is important to guide students in understanding the history of the specific dance genre. With understanding and awareness that goes beyond just its physical form, students enjoy a more holistic appreciation for the art form. IMPART – At Converge, we believe in teaching through dance as much as we believe in teaching dance. At such a moldable age, lessons are specifically crafted to build their dance expertise and technical skills, all while helping students understand and practise key competencies and values in the ways they approach lessons and life. MOTIVATE – We engage our teens with age-appropriate teaching techniques and language, understanding that their needs and preferences can be significantly different from younger students and adults. We adopt team-building activities and techniques in our pedagogy to get teens moving, and to help them find purpose, meaning and motivation in and through dance. Students will be introduced to the brief history of Urban Dance, and its rise in popularity due to specific artistes in the dance scene. They will pick up key Urban Dance techniques that draw from various other genres. These moves will be incorporated into a choreographed sequence that can be showcased at the end of the programme. Learning Objectives APPRECIATE -Appreciate Urban Dance history, its adoption in today’s dance industry, both locally and overseas, and corresponding connections with other parts of the world -Spark curiosity in Urban dance, its history and applications -Understanding and acknowledging Urban dance history, and the positive values imbedded within the genre ACQUIRE -Acquiring knowledge, understanding and ability to execute Urban Dance techniques and choreography -Learning key terminologies and vocabularies associated with and/or adopted in Urban Dance -Engage in hands-on practical application of above, including through technique training, choreography, showcase preparation. Variations will be provided to cater to students of differing experiences and abilities ARTICULATE -Guided reflection and feedback at end of every session to encourage articulating of ideas, viewpoints and perspectives -Develop awareness of audiences and generating respect for differing viewpoints and ideas -Conceptualise and translate ideas into works through guided self-choreographies or group activities

The Tote Board Arts Grant was introduced in 1995 to encourage the development of a vibrant arts culture in schools, and to promote arts appreciation amongst students.

Each year, all MOE schools and ITE Colleges may opt-in to receive the Arts Grant. Schools may use the grant to subsidise the purchase of programmes under the NAC-AEP and for the Artist-in-School Scheme (AISS).

All approved programmes are listed on the NAC-AEP Directory and come with a valid Letter of Eligibility.

To purchase this programme, contact the representative listed on the Programme Detail Page and make contractual arrangements directly with the programme provider.

Please ensure that a valid Letter of Eligibility (LOE) is obtained. Note that MOE procurement guidelines apply.

Payment should be made directly to the programme provider. Claims for the Arts Grant should be made via IFAAS and in accordance to Grant Guidelines.

Programme providers are permitted to make changes to the following aspects of an NAC-AEP, according to the school’s needs:

Cost of programme
Class size

Under the above conditions, schools can make claims based on revised programme costs using the same Programme ID listed on the Letter of Eligibility (LOE).
