Programme Synopsis Students will be given an in-depth understanding of Xinyao – how it began, how it rose in popularity, and how it started to fade away, and also how it has currently evolved to become a modern-day music phenomenon that is rising in popularity once again. And this will also open up a debate on ‘What is Xinyao?’, making students question and google more about Xinyao and what it really means. The presentation will be done in a fun and interesting manner, with narration by a central narrator, and singing performances by a group of singers. There are 2 formats for this programme: 1) Digital Format, much like a Youtube video presentation, with subtitles to ensure that students are able to understand the content of the video better. 2) Onsite Format, with a live performance segment to engage the students’ attention during the session Here is a brief breakdown of the programme: 1) Learn about the Xinyao Campus Folk Song Movement, as well as singing and sharing about the songs by a narrator and the 2-3 singers 2) Development of Xinyao over the years 3) What are the Characteristics of a Xinyao Song? 4) Learning about Important Xinyao Pioneers like Eric Moo, Dr Liang Wern Fook 5) Highlight the differences in lyrics themes and genre of songs between songs during Xinyao and Post-Xinyao phases 6) Perform a number of Xinyao songs for the students to appreciate

The Tote Board Arts Grant was introduced in 1995 to
encourage the development of a vibrant arts culture in schools, and to promote
arts appreciation amongst students.
Each year, all MOE schools and ITE Colleges may opt-in to
receive the Arts Grant. Schools may use the grant to subsidise the purchase of
programmes under the NAC-AEP and for the Artist-in-School Scheme (AISS).
All approved programmes are listed on the NAC-AEP
Directory and come with a valid Letter of
Eligibility.
To purchase this programme, contact the representative

with the programme provider.
Please ensure that a valid Letter of Eligibility (LOE) is
obtained. Note that MOE procurement guidelines apply.
Payment should be made directly to the programme
provider. Claims for the Arts Grant should be made via IFAAS and in accordance
to Grant Guidelines.
Programme providers are
permitted to make changes to the following aspects of an NAC-AEP, according to
the school’s needs:
- Programme duration, including no. of sessions
- Cost of programme
- Class size
Under the above conditions,
schools can make claims based on revised programme costs using the same
Programme ID listed on the Letter of Eligibility (LOE).
The following changes
are not permitted when customising programmes:
- Changes to content
- Inclusion of non-approved instructor(s)
